| In 1972 Sally Ruggles joined the Quabbin Community Band because her daughter Annie wanted to go to Holland with the band, and Sally wanted to chaperone her. She remained an active member of the band, playing French horn, for almost 40 years. Besides playing horn, Sally was an active member of the Quabbin Community Band Auxiliary, taking an active part in running the band - doing publicity, managing the membership list, selling ads, and generally using wisdom and leadership when important issues of director transition, fiscal solvency and keeping a vision for this century old organization came up. This year we celebrate Sally Ruggles and all of her gifts that she brought to the Quabbin Community Band. The Quabbin Community Band is steeped in tradition with a reverence for the generations that came before and will follow afterward. Sally always embodied that tradition. |
